Day 1

The purpose of this cleanse is to give your digestive system a break by eating your healthy foods in a liquid form. If you're not used to a cleanse like this make sure you try it out for a day to get yourself used to it before committing to the full 3 days. As a snack in between meals you can have very soft fruits that are easy on the digestive system, like blueberries, mangoes, watermelon, etc. Also, have as much green smoothies as you like :). There's a bunch of green smoothie recipes on my blog and I'll be posting another one tomorrow for breakfast.

Breakfast: Grapefruit Orange Nectarine Smoothie
What you'll need:
  • 1 frozen nectarine
  • 1 fresh nectarine
  • 1/2 frozen banana
  • 1 cup unsweetened almond/coconut blend milk
  • 2 large pink grapefruits, juiced
  • 2 small juice oranges, juiced

What to do:
Blend everything in a blender until smooth. This should make a total of 3 cups and you can drink 1 cup every hour  with a cup of water in between.

Lunch: Cumin Leek Carrot Purée

  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 1 bunch leek, chopped

  • 8 carrots, chopped
  • 1 sweet potato, chopped into 1/2 inch cubes
  • 2 tsp dried cumin
  • 5 cups water
  • 1 cup coconut/almond milk blend
  • salt & black pepper to taste

What to do:
Saute the onion, garlic, leek and celery in the olive oil until tender. Add the carrots, sweet potato cubes and cumin. Add the water and bring to the boil. Lower the heat, cover, and simmer for an hour. Once done, transfer to a blender and purée until smooth. Return it back to the pot and add the milk and stir it in evenly over low fire.

Hi. I am thinking about doing the 3 day cleanse. However, I noticed that you had recipes that made the food for the entire cleanse, but not a specific amount of the recipe that you recommend to eat each day. Please advise.

Hi Cher! I'm not too big on portions and amounts a person should consume, I pretty much eat until I'm satisfied (not full). If you set a fixed amount for yourself then you may end up over-eating without even noticing. The point of a liquid cleanse is to just to rest your overloaded digestive system. A lot of us tend to eat more than our bodies can use and eliminate and that can then build up harmful toxins. When we take in good nutrients in a liquid form it's much easier for our bodies to take what it wants and eliminate what it doesn't. Make sure you drink lots of water as well!
